Not a very exciting picture but I always like it when I can back in :) My garage mate was in a different run group which made it easier to back in w/o worrying I would hit a Porsche!

BEST track day EVER! Today was SUCH a great day. The MOST exciting news is that I got to run my last session SOLO!

I mentioned to (organizer) Ian I was having a blast in the Novice group, passing ALL kinds of WAY faster cars... Corvette, 911, Nissan Z, and a few others I have forgotten.

So he decided that I should get bumped up into the next run group LOL! I did not pass anyone in Intermediate but - Emily (in her Exige) did NOT pass me either! So I must be doing something right. I warned her if she passed me twice (like at NH) I was gonna kick her butt ;)

I kept up with a couple of the Porsches in Intermediate who passed me as well for awhile. Except for one guy in a white Porsche something (going to fast to tell) who had about 500 hp and blew by me down the front straight like I was standing still.

I had a great instructor - Vinney - who has a very nice black Corvette. Bill Prout assigned him to me when I told Bill I needed someone who would be willing to ride top down! :)

He turned out to have some FANTASTIC insights into some different lines that seem to work great for my car and also ideas for shifting less... I am definitely seeing where it's helpful to have new input from different people.

I am only dropping into 3rd for turns 7, 8 and keeping it there into 9, although I am getting so fast in that straight area I may need to goto 4th then back into 3rd next time.

The rest of the turns I am staying in 4th as I have enough power for the downhill turns without shifting lower (1, 5, 6, 10 & 11) ... all the extra shifting was really just slowing me down.

I hit 117 on the back straight! OMFG! WOW! I take back everything bad about the Kuhmos I ever said - they were awesome today.

I was so fast up thru the Esses I was shifting into 5th (already at 7500 rpm), before the bridge. I was consistently getting over 100 on the front straight as well. I would so love to know the time difference between my sessions 1 and 4.

Other cool stuff - at lunch time I ran the old course between sessions on the track :D

Got over some/most of my fear of Turn 11 wall ;) Made myself go slower thru there and track out all the way until it stopped being quite so scary, then kept going a little faster each time thru.

Rode with 2 instructors - Vinney in his Vette and Penn in his Exige. Vinney actually passed the Exige during the session I rode with him! Holy crap that was a fast car! I don't think I will be afraid to ride with people again, I felt very safe today in both cars. Good to get past that. I need to ride in an S again - Doug better be there in April :)

Newlin (Track Time Photos) said he got some good photos of me, should be posted up to his web site by Wednesday the 28th :)
